Spelt bread



Spelt, also known as dinkel wheat of hulled wheat is an healthy wheat. A lot of people can eat spelt, where they can't tolerate normal wheat. Today a homemade bread with speltflour and speltmeal. The recipe is for 2 breads, so you can enjoy for a longer time of this delicious bread.

Ingredients:

  • 180 grams tepid water;
  • 7 grams dry yeast;
  • 1 teaspoon sugar;
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar;
  • 350 grams milk;
  • 25 grams butter;
  • 2 tablespoons honey;
  • 16 grams salt;
  • 350 grams speltmeal;
  • 500 grams speltflour.
Materials:


  • 2 Bread baking tins.
Preparation:
Mix the yeast with the sugar and the tepid water and set aside for about 10 minutes. Look if you see bubbles. If you don't see any then you have to use a new batch of yeast.

Mix in another bowl the vinegar, milk, butter, honey and the yeast mixture and whisk it all together. Poor 250 grams of speltmeal in the bowl and make a dough. Add the rest of the meal and flour and knead for about 5 minutes. Then add the salt and knead for another 10 minutes. Add the end feel if the yeast is to wet or to dry (it may not stick and all the flour has to be in the dough and not on the table). Add water or flour when necessary. Make a ball of the dough.
Poor oil in a second bowl and lay the dough in it. Turn around once, so every site is covered with oil. Cover the bowl with plastic foil and let the dough rise for about 1.5 hours at room temperature.
Oil your workplace and split the dough. Make a ball from every piece and let it rest, under a kitchen towel, for about 20 minutes. Make a rectangle of the bread, with one side is as wide as the side of the bread baking tin. Roll the dough and put the dough, with the seam downwards in the tin. Let it rise for another 1 hour at room temperature. Meanwhile preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius.

Bake the breads in 35 minutes golden brown. Afterward look if the bread is done, by knocking on the bottom of the bread with your hand. If it sounds hollow, the bread is ready. Take it out of the tin and leave it on a grid, so it can cool to room temperature.

Tips:
